The interface board allows the cash drawer to open upon receipt of one opening character code which is user selectable by means of 8 switches in a DIP style switch pack. An "On" switch position represents a binary 1 and an "Off" switch position represents a binary 0 in the character code. Switch #1 will be the least significant bit and switch #8 will be the most significant bit. Connection between computer and cash drawer is with a standard parallel printer cable; connection between drawer and printer is made with 36-Pin Female Centronics cable mounted horizontally to circuit board. Having the connectors on the interface board reduces cable complexity.
